This morning on CBS's Early Show, Adam Lambert spoke out about his AMA controversy (which led to Good Morning America cancelling his appearance). To recap: Lambert simulated a blow job and made out with a male during his performance on Sunday night. The Early Show chose to blur out the controversial acts when running the AMA clip this morning — and during the talk segment, that they decided to call "Straight Talk," the openly gay singer defended his actions.
While the former American Idol contestant claims the moves were unrehearsed (he says he got caught up in the performance)—"I do see how people got offended, and that was not my intention. My intention was just to interpret the lyrics of my song and have a good time up there"—Lambert didn't think he should apologize to the AMAs, “I’m not a babysitter. I’m a performer."
Indeed, some female performers have gotten away with plenty on stage in front of national television audiences, and even the AMAs this year had some other R-rated moments (as Lambert points out, "Lady Gaga smashing whiskey bottles, Janet Jackson grabbing a male dancer's crotch, Eminem talked about how Slim Shady has 17 rapes under his belt"). So why in the world would Lambert be plucked out from the bunch? He points out the obvious, saying, "I think it's because I'm a gay male," but Early Show host Maggie Rodriguez says it wasn't right for the venue. Uh, was the venue the Westboro Baptist Church?

Um, I'm pretty sure we're way past cretinism a couple of decades ago, airtech1. The hypocrisy of watching everyone be shocked is nauseating. Americans claim to be disgusted by two men kissing, but it's merely naughty and amusing when two women do it? The straight male dominated culture of this country is so rife with contradiction it's laughable.
And I don't agree that Adman Lambert is hurting gay marriage. The only thing hurting gay marriage is that gay people are yet another minority subject to the bigoted rule of The Mob. At this point I don't know if it's honest to God religion-based hatred or simply a power trip disguised as a holy war perpetuated to keep closet case perverts in power in both houses of congress. If gay behavior is acceptable suddenly their years of self-loathing won't be worth as much, will it?
