Adam Lambert Says He's A Performer, Not A Babysitter

This morning on CBS's Early Show, Adam Lambert spoke out about his AMA controversy (which led to Good Morning America cancelling his appearance). To recap: Lambert simulated a blow job and made out with a male during his performance on Sunday night. The Early Show chose to blur out the controversial acts when running the AMA clip this morning — and during the talk segment, that they decided to call "Straight Talk," the openly gay singer defended his actions.

While the former American Idol contestant claims the moves were unrehearsed (he says he got caught up in the performance)—"I do see how people got offended, and that was not my intention. My intention was just to interpret the lyrics of my song and have a good time up there"—Lambert didn't think he should apologize to the AMAs, “I’m not a babysitter. I’m a performer."

Indeed, some female performers have gotten away with plenty on stage in front of national television audiences, and even the AMAs this year had some other R-rated moments (as Lambert points out, "Lady Gaga smashing whiskey bottles, Janet Jackson grabbing a male dancer's crotch, Eminem talked about how Slim Shady has 17 rapes under his belt"). So why in the world would Lambert be plucked out from the bunch? He points out the obvious, saying, "I think it's because I'm a gay male," but Early Show host Maggie Rodriguez says it wasn't right for the venue. Uh, was the venue the Westboro Baptist Church?

I think the point here is whtever he was doing as regards the performance he has every rights to be what he wants, but don't abuse it. Being gay is a right but for more this is wrong !

This has nothing to do with homosexuality. Madonna, Janet Jackson etc, all try to pull these stunts on tV to be hip but it backfires because they look desperate. This has to do with no talent singers who use sex to sell themselves. Lambert with have his 5 second of fame and then be gone.
