Video: Fresh Prince, Fallon & Young

Hate all you want on Jimmy Fallon, but the guy does the best impersonation of Neil Young covering Will Smith's "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." That is a fact.

And good luck getting that song out of your head. To help out, ponder this: What else should Neil-llon cover?

very nice. but Jonathan Coulton's acoustic rendition of "Baby Got Back" spawned this genre:

Heh, look, I like Jonathan Coulton fine, but that was not an original idea. I can think of a dozen bands that have done something similar, going back to Sissy Bar's "Gin & Juice" in 1996:

Besides doing a Fresh Prince cover AS Neil Young isn't even the same thing.

Phish (*gag*) also did Gin & Juice

My favorite was this short chubby girl whose name escapes me who I saw do an acoustic guitar version of Big Punisher's "Still Not a Player." I think it was at Knitting Factory.

  • Tendernob

That is NOT Phish. That is an indie bluegrass band called The Gourds. Doesn't even sound like Phish at all - don't blame the interwebs for such a dumb error.

  • Ronnie Dobbs

Honestly, how in the hell do people still think that is Phish? It's odd that you *gag* at the mention of them, because you clearly have never heard a note of their music if that sounds like Phish to you.

  • longacre

I stand corrected, it is not Phish. I blame the Internets for perpetuating this falsehood for 10 years.

  • Fallon is good at two things:

    1. Hillary Swank impersonations

    2. Neil Young impersonations

    That's about it.

He's also good at making funnies out of 1990s sitcoms. The Zack Morris bit a few months ago was brilliant.

  • kafkask

    That's brilliant

  • John Del Signore

I don't know. Weren't kids at UCB doing ironic variations on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air like five years ago?
