Police Break Up Clinton Hill Weed And Crack Ring

No Pipe Dream: Michigan Votes For Medical Marijuana

Cops busted a Clinton Hill crack and marijuana ring and nabbed 11 individuals suspected of selling drugs on the street, from an apartment building at the corner Putnam and Grand Avenue avenues, and out of a barbershop and two t-shirt stores. In an investigation dubbed "Operation Grand Slam," undercover officers infiltrated the ring and made 18 purchases of crack cocaine before executing a warrant on Oct. 29. During a raid, police recovered 75 grams of crack — which carries a street price of about $10,000 — from the barber shop, two guns and nearly two pounds of weed from the t-shirt shops, and a third gun from the home of a t-shirt store manager. The investigation came in response to community complaints.

Less than a tenth of a kilo of crack and 2 lbs of pot. How much do you think this operation cost the taxpayers to conduct? 18 purchases probably takes at least a couple of weeks. Rookie cops may make squat, but my guess is that undercovers are costly on a per hour basis. If I were police commissioner, I would consider this project a failure rather than something to hold a press conference about. And 10K? Give me a break. I highly doubt that crack costs $130 a gram on the street.

the details dont sound like a GRAND SLAM.

I have friends who pay large sums of money to live in Clinton Hill. It seems like a pretty big ripoff for living in a glorified ghetto.

your mom's a glorified ghetto.

I love how the DA/law enforcement inflate the "street value" of drugs to justify pointless and questionable raids. As mentioned above, that much crack if sold one dimebag at a time would sell for $7500. I would bet that in the real world, it wouldn't go for more than $5000. That may not seem like a big deal but the general public goes along with these raids that cost more money and cause more problems than they are worth.

god, I live in clinton hill and I have to get it delivered. Where were these people?
