Obama Fried Chicken Owner Wanted $3K For Video

phpzVaeBWAM.jpg After they pointed out that the Obama Fried Chicken sign was mysteriously blurred out in a new Clipse video, Brokelyn talked to video director Rik Cordero to find out why. He told them: "The decision was made by the owner of the restaurant, who wouldn't sign our location agreement unless we paid him $3,000 cash. Therefore, the sign had to be edited out for network television. I can’t really knock the guy, because taking out the sign has now given Obama Fried Chicken even more free promotion than if we had left it in." But did anyone on the shoot try the chicken? The question remains.

Allegedly the spot was chosen when crew and talent voted for Obama versus Crown Fried Chicken, which was another option in the same neighborhood. Mystery solved!

See both versions of the video here (on YouTube it's allegedly a-okay to keep the words visible).

I think the bottom line is that, undeterred, Clipse kept ****in that chicken. :)

Outside was shot in Brownsville, inside was shot in Harlem.

    Cam'ron was afraid of Brooklyn.

    haha!

Wait, so the owner didn't sign off on the location agreement but still allowed an entire video to be shot in front of his store? I don't get it. I would have demanded the 3k before a single light was set up.

Brokelyn.com, not the Daily News, talked to Rik Cordero. The Daily News simply reran the story. With the ease of news-flow online, it's more important than ever to get your original sources straight.

A lot of rap gets a bad name because of some of the clowns that are currently on the radio (Soulja Boy, that "You're a jerk!" song) but there are some truly talented rappers out there, and Clipse are two of them. They make fairly complex music. You couldn't do what they do, I guarantee that.
