I am trying to figure out, how did the suicide guy tie up himself up put tape over his mouth to commit suicide? Isn't that a stretch?

  • jpeditor

tape over mouth first, loose tape over hands.

Whats really amazing is the amazing amount of left wing web sites that are doing mea culpas after originally accusing conservatives of this murder.

    /sarcasm off...

    I'll play liberal apologist here.

Let's give credit where it's due: leftie media types like Rachel Maddow and HuffPo pushed the story at a reasonable length. And with a relatively minimal amount of assumption and fingerpointing; most chose to reserve full judgment for when the final reports came in. When allegations started bubbling up that it may have been a suicide, they reported that and backed off. And now that the official findings are out, they're the first ones to report it.

And can you blame them? The guy staged the whole thing to clearly and explicitly appear as though he was the victim of lynching, in an area with a history of distrust and violent attitudes toward the government. And he did so at a time of wild publicized unrest amongst fringe types that would normally populate a remote area like that. So what else were we supposed to think, until the police concluded the investigation?

It's just a bizarre story, that no one could have easily expected. And while I'm glad that no actual violence occurred and Clay County can go on with its hands clean, it's a shame this man chose to die in such a way. He left behind a family whom he loved enough to die for.

" He left behind a family whom he loved enough to die for."

Because he tried to defraud his insurance company? By your logic, Madoff is a hero.

Ben Brantley wasn't the only reviewer who found Fela! one of the most inventive musicals in memory.

There were still some discount tickets to be found on broadwaybox.com earlier today.
