Junior Gotti Jury Deadlocked, Told To Keep Working

2009_07_gottismirk.jpg Could the fourth time be another charm? The jury deliberating the fate of John Gotti Jr.—whose past three federal trials have ended in mistrialssent a note to Judge Kevin Castel yesterday reading, "We are unable to reach a verdict." Castel told the group to keep deliberating at first, but then sent them home for the weekend.

Castel said, "My advice to you is to try not to think about the case ... and to return rested and refreshed." The trial, which has the prosecutors accusing Gotti of racketeering and murder, has been going on for two months and has included juror drama and a freakout from Gotti's mom Victoria. His sister Victoria gave her thoughts on the jury's note to the Daily News, "It's not a bad thing by any means. I just know the jury is working very very hard. I just pray the jury is as fair as they've been, and they stand on principal."

Really? I wasn't aware Gotti Jr had been convicted of murder. And murder of who? Other people in the mafia? so be it. Sorry bad guys killing bad guys is not a concern of mine. The mob generally doesn't do drive by type killings where innocent people are killed.

if the prosecutor birngs a stale/weak case, it will be tossed before gotti would be tried

obviously these cases are strong enough to be tried. its the jury pool thats letting us down

its just bizarre to me that a guy like gotti gets that sympathy. who says 'let the guy go home and be husband and a father' about other murderers in the city?

Curious about my attitude? My attitude is that how many many many times are you going to put someone on trial only to have them not be convicted, all the while wasting more and more tax money for these trials so some prosecutor gets to put on their resume they convicted a Gotti. Please spare me.

How old is this original case? Come on already.

More curious about your attitude actually. How long should this go on? How much more money should they waste? Let the guy go home and be a father and husband. Keep an eye on him if you want and if you find he is still involved in mob business, then bring him up on NEW charges.

"...well, the good thing about the mob is they keep giving you second chances"

"Peppers and eggs? I shoulda had that."

the prosecutors know he's involved in murders---lots of murders. why would they stop prosecuting him? he's never been acquitted, so why would they let him go? do you know what prosecutor is or does in society? i am curious about this attitude

Personally I'd love to see him get off again, then drop dead of a heart attack as he's leaving the courthouse. The obsessive overreaching by the prosecutors is sickening.

He's the idiot son of a failed mobster; they both broke the golden rule and couldn't help letting it get to their heads.

  • Angelheaded Hipster

they're not trying to prove he's still in the mob

    nice read

How much more money are we going to waste trying and re-trying Gotti Jr? Enough already, let this guy go home. This is a Vendetta. They got the guy that wanted in John Sr and they let him die a horrible death in prison while neglecting his medical needs. How much more are you gonna put this family through. Prove he is STILL in the mob or Leave the Gotti's alone already. its over
