NJ Man Overheard Threatening Obama Sentenced

2009_11_johnbrek.jpg The Newark Airport private security guard who was overheard discussing "how someone could shoot the president through a hole in a fence at the airport" was sentenced to 30 days in jail today. John Brek had been initially charged with making terroristic threats but pleaded guilty to a lesser charges of harassment last week; the Star-Ledger reports, "They represent a drastic reduction from the original felony charges Brek faced: making terroristic threats and possessing a rifle stolen from Alabama; and possessing hollow-point bullets." Since he has been held in jail since last month, Brek is to be released today.

How ironic life is: Bush was admired by millions of idiots -still is- and probably would never face such hate and threat. Now that we have a serious capable adult to be in the job, all these masses fucktards appear everywhere.

I have a feeling the Secret Service talk about how someone could shoot the President on a daily basis. Why are they not arrested and charged? Whether you love or hate Obama, this is a First Amendment issue. Having this guy arrested and tried for what he said is exactly what Bush would have done. Isn't Obama supposed to be righting the wrongs from the previous administration?

Hmm, not just terrorist threats but terrorstic threats. Maybe that's why he's been languishing in jail. It's a damn good thing he stopped short of terroristicish or terrorsticesque-level activity. I think they used to refer to those as "chatter"

"Since he has been held in jail since last month, Brek be released today."

i guess blogs like this dumbs down america,

    read the actual facts,

Brek's family, friends and his attorney described him as a hunter and a gun collector, and someone who had never been particularly interested in politics.

"This is an absolutely outrageous case," his attorney, Moses Rambarran, said yesterday. "He should have never been arrested. He should have never been charged. It's now 27 days later and he's still in Essex County Jail. This is a huge, massive infringement on his First Amendment rights and his right to bear arms."

Brek was a security guard for FJC Security Services Inc., checking vehicles entering and exiting the airport tarmac. He worked with company for 17 years, had an "outstanding record," and once received employee-of-the-month honors, Rambarran said.

he should have fought the case, but who the heck has 220K BAIL and sits in solitary for 47hour stretches for 30 days...youd plead guilty to anything at that point just to get out, VICTORY...

a random guy with a cache of guns trespassing on airport proptery making notes of a secure area is one thing, but an airport employee pointing out problems with the secure area is someone who should be thanked not arrested. sorry folks.

    ANOTHER BULLSHIT CASE!

this guy's house was searched based on an overheard conversation, then after sitting in jail on felony charges he is allowed to plead guilty to lesser charges with the sentence being the actual time served waiting for bail or a trial, on paper a victory for another conviction hungry prosecutor.

this is BS, and his guns were legal except for one which he admitted not knowing the background, then the hollowpoints which were legal also. bs case, bs charges, pointing out holes in the fence is "harassment" of an unknown person named obama.

this is an embarassment to the president and he should pardon him.

30 days for threatening the President and possession of stolen property? I thought hollow point bullets are illegal as well. I'm afraid we're going to hear from this jerk again.

  • fauxsella

Fitting that Brek would rhyme with Drek.

Probably has a tattoo of Sean Hannity on his chest.
