Goldman Sachs Donates Pittance To Help Small Biz

2009_11_fatcat.jpg From the NY Times: "A little more than a week after Goldman’s chairman and chief executive drew fire for saying the Wall Street giant was 'doing God’s work,' the bank said Tuesday that it would spend $500 million — or about 3 percent of the $16.7 billion it has so far set aside to pay its employees this year — to help thousands of small businesses recover from the recession." Also, CEO Lloyd Blankfein, on the cusp of handing out billions in bonuses, said, "We participated in things that were clearly wrong and have reason to regret. We apologize."

    I fucking hate bankers.

    It's a wonder more haven't been shot.

Making millions off of usury- pure scumbags.

  • FrankMartin

They run the world, just like god tried too, but HE has left the planet. He left Lloyd to turn out the lights.

Socialist bankers, really, what has our world come too?

The bailout money they received ($12B) is all supposed to go back into small businesses to help us out of this recession.

But $500 million is close, right? The rest is obviously for salary & bonuses guys!

  • gothgal

No, the bailout money was not supposed to go back into small businesses. That's not the kind of business that GS is in.

  • jnguy

What did they participate in that was clearly wrong?

This "gesture of goodwill" is a fucking farce.

Goldman only loaned 119 million (MILLION) in small business loans last year. What makes you think they're going to do it again? The are hoarding money from hard working small businesses.

The whole banking industry is a succubus on American commerce. They do more harm than good.

So let me be the first in thist thread to send them a "fuck you" on behalf of the country that they almost helped sink, permanently, into the ground.

gs is not a small business lender. this is like complaining that best buy isnt selling enough fax machines. they paid back their TARP investment, now they are a private company again with their own private interests of getting rich--similar to every other company in the us. they just do a better job at it. they have no obligation to give away 300 million of private money, so stop complaining when they do so. why not go after general mills for not giving away more free cereal? those bastards.

  • matty

And by 119 million i mean that that is NOTHING. They aren't loaning any money to anyone. This "gift" of 300 million is a joke and an insult.
