The Department of Education is taking bids in search of a pest-control specialist to eradicate any sign of those troublesome bedbugs in schools around the city. A spokeswoman tells the Post that the listing is "a contingency measure, not a response to an increase in bugs." The department intends to spent no more than $100,000 over the course of the three-year contract, so who will be the intrepid exterminator that will protect our children on $33,333 a year?

Ridding schools of bedbugs is pretty pointless. Kids will just bring more in from home.
$100,000? Surely that must be a typo, as the DOE can't do anything for under $100,000,000.
What about Roscoe the dog?
BEAGLE FORCE 1
they could just cut the heat and let the bugs freeze
I concur. Kids be damned. Let them all swill in that swine and mumps epicenter.
Freezing them is NOT a proven/effective way to kill them due to their resiliency, we're talking about bugs that can live for 18months without eating(18months to starve)and with the way these things spread, well, you should be greatful they ARE trying to do something about this.... know how many of those kids ride the same trains, buses, etc as all of us do.... well those little BB's come right along with them.... they bring em home, parents/family help redistribute to their jobs, commutes, etc.
I'll get Pedro to come by and dust some talcum powder around for $100,000, mkay?
