The Maersk Alabama, the container ship that was hijacked by Somali pirates in April, was attacked again today while 350 miles east of the Somali coast. CNN reports, "Pirates fired automatic weapons at the ship...Guards aboard the ship fired back, repelling the attack." In the April incident, the Maersk's captain gave himself to the pirates as a hostage and was rescued in dramatic fashion five days later when Navy snipers stepped in and killed three of the pirates.

I guess that settles it. Everyone on board ship passing through the same area should be armed with at LEAST AK-47s. And some rocket launchers wouldn't hurt.
The only way to fight pirates is with superior firepower. These guys are panzies anyway. They aren't hardasses like Blackbeard was back in the golden days of piracy.
Isn't this story a description of Level 5 of Port of Call 3?
I'm no maritime scholar, but isn't that a picture of an aircraft carrier?
Short and to the point. Thanks.
whooo AMERICA! now pick your face up pirates!
The Maersk Alabama: .06 acres of american sovereign territory.
Maersk is a Danish company.
"The U.S.-flagged cargo ship Maersk Alabama, which played a central role in a bloody hijacking drama last spring, was attacked again Wednesday."

Merchant ships are not sovereign territory. Only commissioned warships and certain government-owned vessels (ie civilian-manned naval auxiliaries) are sovereign territory.
Geesh. Sorry about the sarcasm.
I guess some people never learn. Next time bring in some air support and really teach them a lesson.
How ironic. The Spanish govt a few days ago decided to pay their pirates 3million to free their hostages and ship. What a contrast of policy. The European Communities values have really changed.
And Royal Navy simply watched when Somalis seized British couple from their yacht. They were too PC to open fire. We're the last ones to do something.
But this means if you have a weapon you can stop a criminal. Help Mayor Bloomberg, we are confused!
You can not attack Mayor Bloomberg. He is a sovereign state unto himself.
