- Thrashers 5, Rangers 3: Henrik Lunqvist returned, but it wasn't enough for the Rangers, who lost without Chris Drury and Brandon Dubinsky. The former has a concussion and the latter has a broken hand. Not good. Artem Anisimov and Marian Gaborik helped erase two one-goal deficits, but the Rangers wilted after that. This was their first game back after a long road trip to Canada, and they've lost eight of 11 (with one shootout loss.)
- Devils 4, Penguins 1: That's nine straight road wins for the Devils, and that's one shy of the record to start the season. Niclas Bergfors had a goal and two assists. The Devils have now tied for the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Capitals also have 26 points. Zach Parise had a goal and Travis Zajac had three assists.

"the Rangers wilted after that."
Ridiculous. The Rangers absolutely dominated the third period. The game was lost because of a letdown at the end of the second period; sloppiness that allowed a second Atlanta goal just 25 seconds after they'd scored on the power play. In the third, the Rangers held the Thrashers without a shot until 10 minutes in, outshooting them 18-4 in the period. That's "wilted"?
They closed the gap to one goal, and gave up an open net goal in the final minute.
Seriously, if you're not going to watch the games you write about, you should probably just report the score and stay away from any fake "analysis."
I did watch that game, and although the Rangers may not have wilted in the third, it takes 3 periods to win a game and the Thrashers tore them apart in the first 2. In the third, Atlanta went into defensive mode, as most teams do when leading by 2 goals, and therefore gave away more shots than they took.
Plus, Atlanta's Hedburg is not as good as Lundqvist, so you know the goals that Atlanta scored were sweet, while the ones the Rangers scored were weak.
Well, I don't see much validity in your final paragraph, but as for your main point, yes, I didn't say that the Rangers outplayed them or deserved to win. Generally they looked flat, perhaps attributable to coming off a longer than usual layover.
There are many ways to accurately describe what happened in the game. You used some. I used some. "Erased two one-goal deficits, and wilted after that," though, is not an accurate description.
On another note, I hope the Devils are able to break the record for most road wins in a row.
