Ok Letitia, so your solution to crime is security cameras and police presence on every corner and shutting down businesses that are affected by crime. Do you really think this is the way to improve your district in the long run? Or are you just looking for quick fixes to improve the numbers until the next election? I have some ideas that will fit in nicely with your methodology. How about 8pm curfews for everybody under 21? Or legalizing random, unwarranted searches of any suspicious-looking youths? Crippling taxes for single parents? I have a bunch more if you want to chat. I'm sure if we just start blindly restricting everybody's liberties enough it won't matter if the youth is undereducated or doesn't have engaging after-school programs. At least your numbers will improve long enough to benefit you.

I can't believe a Councilwoman just blamed a restaurant for selling its product as the cause of punk ass kids being punk ass kids. A lil responsibility and tough love would be nice. i'm going to say the same thing i've said on all the other sites regarding this matter - it's not the fault of the restaurant owners, not the fault of the security detail, the NYPD, Letita James - it's simply the fault of the parents who have not instilled any manners in these kids - they don't know how to act, behave, they have no respect and they don't any concept of the fact that there are consequences for any of their behavior. The parents of these kids have done NOTHING to school these kids in any sense of what it is to be a productive member of society. PERIOD.
