Last Night's Action: The Worst Get Worse

Hawks 114, Knicks 101: At least this game bucked the trend. The Knicks managed a halftime lead (54-47) before Altanta recovered in the second half. Toney Douglas (23 points) was the Knicks' high man for the second straight game, and Al Harrigton also had 23 points but with 12 rebounds. Atlanta shot 54.3 percent from the floor. That may have helped them.
76ers 82, Nets 79: Another close loss for the depleted Nets. Courtney Lee returned to play just under two minutes and Brook Lopez stole the show with 23 points and 14 rebounds, but the Nets couldn't outlast the 76ers. The Nets have now lost eight straight to start the season. Poor Lawrence Frank, who can't get the bodies out on the court to see what he has to work with.
Devils 3, Ducks 1: A nice, tidy win for the Devils, who have won sixth straight. Martin Brodeur made 31 saves and made the goals of Jamie Langenbrunner, Zach Parise and David Clarkson stand up.
Capitals 5, Islanders 4 (SO): This game was anything but tidy. The Capitals scored eight seconds in. The Islanders responded with three goals in a five-minute span. Then they gave one up at the end of the first period and two more in the second before tying it in the third only to lose in the shootout, which went 11 (!) rounds. At least they got a point out of it.

Looks like we need to replace the Knicks' Gatorade with 5-hour Energy.
