Yesterday afternoon, a 13-year-old jumped to his death from his family's apartment terrace at the Tracey Towers on Mosholu Parkway. The Daily News reports that Juda Agyemang "was sent home from school for not paying attention" (according to family members) while the Post says he had been "pulled from his school's basketball team because of poor grades."
An aunt told the News, "He was a brilliant boy. He was a good basketball player, too." The family said that "Juda had a problem yesterday in an after-school academic program at Our Lady of Angels school on Sedgwick Ave. that got him sent home early for not paying attention." When he got home, the teen wanted to play basketball but his mother told him he had to eat before. The aunt said, "She went to the kitchen to get her son food when she heard a noise from the balcony and he wasn't there anymore."
The papers say that he fell at least 21 stories (the News says Juda fell 21 stories while the Post says he fell 23 stories from a window). A neighbor told the Post, "I was standing on my terrace and the body was being taken away. I saw the mother lying on the body, crying," while another said, "The family was a very good family. When I heard this, I was very surprised ...He was just a very sweet kid. Everybody is very upset."

Geeze.
wow...
Damn, kid.
oh how absolutely terrible.
God, how sad.
he couldn't wait until he got into nyu?
Humor Fail.
so not funny. suicide is just so not funny, especially when it's a kid.
Don't listen to them. It's called dark humor for a reason.
Still, this is sad.
not funny
people who make fun of suicides are to be pitied. Their soul seems to be in a deep freeze

Very sad.
Loser!! He can kill himself for basket ball but not for doing his homework.
This kid had other problems besides grades and sports.
it is very sad.
early adolescence can be so difficult.
it's a time for everyone to be extra vigilant.
Maybe he tripped? Accidents happen.
Brilliant yet poor grades? Not paying attention in class at the age of 13? Reads like a smart kid is bored in class and going through puberty to me. Very very sad. T&P with the family.
I don't know what to think.
the NY Post states Basketball was his passion.
he just took the entrance exam to the Bronx HS of Science.
sent home for not paying attention then wanting to play ball.
My thoughts go out to his family.
Good ridence. This kid had no future. Millions want to be in the NBA, NBA only has 400 team slots, your chance is zero.
no future, sorta like those harvard dropouts gates and zuckerburg
I am actually in the same school with him. He was smart kid and played on the basketball team.He got sent home from camp interactive because he screamed at one of the people there. We don't even know if he jumped or fell. A lot of people were sad and were crying. I know i did
How could you say "Good ridence"? Did you know this kid? Chances are you didn't. This is a terrbile sad story about a 13 year old boy who killed himself. Not a grown man who stole millions of dollars out of peoples pockets and should have just ended their life. And how dare you take away from his dreams. Don't take away from any kids dream of wanting to be in the NBA or any professional sports. Dreams are there for a reason. Just because maybe you didn't achieve your dream doesn't mean kids can't achieve theirs. This is why kids fail out of school or don't do anything with their lives because of people like you who tell them they won't amount to anything or dreams are just dreams.
This is a terribly sad story. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
Was he looking forward to being a father?
you're sick. your account should just be banned.
Oh calm the fuck down Mary. Look at the statistics for the Bronx, if he wasn't on his way to fatherhood already, he would be (with a record) within two years.
Oh, cram it a-hole.
reminded me of that other kid who committed suicide by jumping in the river. he was walking his sister home and just jumped into the East River.
Really sad. This is about the age where clinical depression kicks in. Wish someone would have helped him.
i would like to know how old you are? and if you have any children? Because if you dont have any children i sincerely hope you never do.
Those years are very hard for a kid, with academic pressure, peer pressure and all of that stuff. My daughter went to school with this kid last year and is very hard to try to understand what drove this kid to do what he did and at the same time very scary. As a parent you always try to do what is best for them. And children that go to that school are not spoiled, rich children they are kids from hard working families that are trying to provide the best education possible, and keep them out if trouble,so that they dont become an statistic like you mention. And if you research the building were that happen you'll find out that is not a Deluxe-Complex or a Deluxe Condominium.Educate yourself before you comment.
horrible . . . really, really sad!
