MTV Looking For Real People, Real Life Experiences

2009_11_skins2.jpg In preparation for its American adaptation of the UK's provocative television knockout Skins, MTV is holding a casting call in Brooklyn in search of 15-18 year old non-actors of all types in its hunt for "the most charismatic and actually edgy kids." They're looking for genuine alpha males, divas, and "shy-types" to portray their naturally stereotypical selves along the vein of the original series which follows adventurous teens who deal with issues like pregnancy, eating disorders, and fulfilled teacher fetishes. While the series will inevitably take place in Baltimore, casting agent Kim Madalinski tells Brokelyn that looking in Brooklyn is a "no brainer."

How about firing all the execs at MTV and start over with minimum wage college graduates. They would have more reality, and creativity. MTV is like a dead lifeless cultural pimple.

Most of the people at MTV are college kids.
Back when MTV was doing cool stuff that related to music it was mostly older tv vets making it happen.
Very few people there actually 'create', 'produce', or 'make' anything.
They're too busy being herded from meeting to meeting.

F'ing meetings, meetings, meetings, meetings, LET ME WORK!

Here we go again: more fake plastic people that live non-existent lives...

How blatant of a sham is "reality TV" when they hold a casting call to search high and low for people to fit the stereotypes they wanted all along?

How about this. Buy the rights to "Skins" and broadcast it here. I'm in the midst of catching up on Season/Series 1. BBC America is only showing Season/Series 3 now.

Where the fuck to these American casting agents get there training? If you're going to do a "sincere" look into the live of Baltimore kids, then why don't you look for...um...I don't know, BALTIMORE KIDS. No brainer there Kimmy.

Hahaha-- this show is going to be yet another failed attempt on MTV's part to be culturally relevant. I am a college student and have not watched MTV since "cribs" was on--been about 6 years now. However, I am a MUSIC JUNKIE, and know now that MTV is the last place to look for good music. Sad, but true--pitchfork wins my attention any day.

I love skins, but this stateside remake is going to suck. Just air the original show. We export so much of our media, we could stand a glimpse at other people's culture.

finally a show about MY LIFE! I'm so sick of these fake shows that DO NOT REALTE to ME: A WILD CRAZY COOL TEENAGER.
