Police Release Sketch of Bogus UPS Deliveryman

The front steps of brownstones throughout the West Village are now decorated with police sketches of a man suspected in a string of home invasions during the past few weeks. The man has sometimes posed a UPS worker to gain access to five apartments since his first job on October 16th, when he entered the home of an 84-year-old woman on Bank Street after asking her for a glass of water. While she retrieved the refreshment, he fled with a cell phone and a watch.

During the other invasions, he tied his victims up but did not otherwise harm them—until his latest robbery on Monday, when the 79-year-old woman who answered the door was struck in the face, leaving a cut on her lip. According to WABC, the incident occurred at 4:30 in the afternoon, and the man was not in uniform and offered no form of identification.

Last Thursday night, the man bound a nanny, stole some cash and electronics, and told the nanny she could untie herself after waiting ten minutes. (Which makes one wonder where this guy learned to tie knots.) He is described as a white or Hispanic man, 40 to 50 years of age, approximately 5'8" - 6'2" tall.
