Cat Killer Could Face Longer Sentence

2009_06_cherk.jpg A judge overthrew a plea deal offered to suspected feline arsonist Cheyenne Cherry yesterday, potentially extending the prison sentence for the 17-year-old who is accused of killing a kitten by baking it in a 500-degree oven. According to the Post, "Judge Margaret Clancy, who had earlier approved the plea deal, said 'nobody realized' at the time that reducing a violent felony charge to a nonviolent charge was illegal."

While Cherry already pleaded guilty to burglary and animal cruelty charges in exchange for a one-year sentence in July, prosecutors are now pushing for two years behind bars in exchange for a guilty plea. Cherry's lawyer, Danielle Follett, claims the prosecution's efforts to land a longer sentence are a nod to the animal-rights activists who have been protesting in front of the courthouse — a group that Cherry once taunted. "They are succumbing to public pressure," the attorney said. The Bronx teen is due back in court on Dec. 2.

What Trash, I wouldn't touch her with a 50 foot pole. I wish her the worst but I already know this garbage will lead a miserable life. If only they can sterilize her.

Forced sterilization should definitely be a sentencing option in today's courts. How do we get that on the ballots?

Relax Felix. It was a bad crime but it was just an animal and kids do make mistakes.

We are all animals. Are you a plant? And she isn't a kid but TRASH.

this is one of the most disturbing comments i've seen through all of the coverage of this case. "kids do make mistakes"? jesus christ.

for real. a mistake is spilling milk or breaking some windows perhaps even sleeping with the wrong person, but putting a cat in an oven is downright psychotic.

to say this girl has issues is a huge understatement.

Now if she had eaten the cat....
Cruel, and perhaps the start of a Psychokiller.

I tried cooking kittens in the Microwave oven but the damn thing never cooks evenly. Oven roasting at 500 degrees ensures the tenderness & flavor of the kitten meat without bulging its eyes out too much. I'll have to ask her for some cooking tips when I visit the Rikers.

Usually I skin the Kitten first before placing it in the Oven. I hate to have fried Kitten fur on the tender meat. Top it off with some potatoes and pork gravy and you have a meal! Bon Appetit'!

I'd love to give her a douche ... with Drano.

Ah the sad humor of the cynics!
She probably thought that is was super funny to did what she did!
Morons!

I've always felt that the best punishment for animal abusers is to have what they did to the animal done to them. But for some reason the thought of people burning in giant ovens makes me really uncomfortable...

put THIS animal behind bars. What kind of filthy trash does it take to hurt a domestic animal that poses no threat to anyone's well-being?

Cheyenne Cherry deserves serious jail time, but only after a plank across the face. Bitch.

Yes this is despicable, but how does she get MORE time then THE PEOPLE WHO RUN OVER OTHERS IN THEIR F*CKING CARS? I mean, geez, talk about inequal.

No sympathy. Humans are animals and she killed an animal in a beyond torturous manner. Sorry but putting any living being in a 500 degree oven is seriously effed up. This girl needs and education and some love in her life then maybe she won't cause suffering to others.

Cats, dogs, pigs, cows... they all have feelings and feel pain. They are not below you and deserve better.

people are so crazy about animals

She'll be putting her baby in a microwave when she's 23.
