Swine Flu, Big Whoop, Wanna Fight About It?

It was only a matter of time before the Swine Flu hysteria escalated to the next level and what better place for it to heat up than New York City on the D train. The Business Insider's Lawrence Delevingne caught a glimpse and an earful of the first reported swine flu-induced subway altercation this morning while nearing the 42nd St Street- Bryant Park stop.

This is how it all went down: A slightly overweight, perhaps 5'7" woman was coughing without covering her mouth when another woman nearby, roughly 5'2" and stocky, told her, "you need to cover your mouth -- I don't want swine flu."

The second woman continued to yell at the cougher, berating her until she reacted, beginning to curse back. It escalated, and the accosting woman yelled "get the conductor!"

No one got the conductor -- it just seemed like a shouting match -- but as the train pulled into 42nd Street, the coughing woman spit on the other, provoking what sounded like a punch from the reaction of the crowd (we didn't directly see it). Then the cougher attempted to exit the train as the doors were open, but the second woman grabbed her by the back of the hair, violently yanking her down to the floor.

The last action happened directly in front of us. The cougher got up, yelling and cursing, but was escorted out of the train by what appeared to be a friend. Your correspondent, who had been sleepily reading about CIT's bankruptcy filing, held the shorter woman back, who kept screaming as the second woman left the train.

One rider was just as bothered by the cougher, "That sh-t was going all over the train." While another stressed all is fair when swine flu is involved: "I could have decked her too. That swine flu is treacherous." Then again, the D train is an incubator for tense subway rides. [Via Daily Intel]

The government is drumming up the hysteria to help stampede everyone into accepting this monstrous 1,990 page health care takeover bill. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Who needs TV when you can just ride the D train? That tube is chock full of hilariously classless "people".

i like this story, especially the part where the coughee pulls the cougher back into the train by her hair. that's hot. swine flu hysteria aside, you insist upon coughing lung butter on me and watch as my foot swiftly connects with your pooper.

I'm generally in favor of punching all people who don't cover their mouths when coughing and sneezing. I used to work with this chick who regularly spewed her germs all over our office. We called her The Scourge because everyone in the office got sick constantly since she arrived. She would even grab people's trash cans and hock loogies into them. I used to fantasize about pushing her out the window and watching as she splatted below, as my whole office cheered me on.

When they finally fired her - after 8 months of virus after virus decimating the office - one of my coworkers and I actually danced across the office. Unsurprisingly, the sick day rate went waaaaaaaaaay down.

What kind of asshole keeps coughing on the train without covering their mouth? She deserved to be punched.

Wha? And no one had the mindset to record this shitstorm on their celly and post it on youtube??! WTF?

D train. They were too focused on clutching their bags tighter.

A physical altercation with someone who has H1N1 is probably a pretty good way to get it yourself.

If there is a serious disease outbreak avoiding public transport it probably up there around rule 2.

Actually Rule #2 is: "Double Tap"

One bullet more in the head will go a long way to ensuring your survival. Just because the zombie is down is no reason not to shoot it in the head.

Y'all need to get healthy immune systems.
