Looking For NYC Marathon Proposal Couple

Reader Sherri Jackson took this picture during the NYC Marathon yesterday and wonders if someone could help identify the people in it:

This runner stopped along the NYC Marathon course, right after mile 16 (coming off the 59th St. Bridge into Manhattan) and proposed to his girl. He pulled a ring out of his pocket (I'm assuming it was a ring box - it was something black and square) and they had a few moments. I didn't think to get a shot of his bib number to identify him, so I'm hoping that people might link to this pic on facebook or twitter in hopes that it'll get to this couple. I'm sure they'd love to have it. :-) I have a couple more photos, so if they find me, they can email me: sherri [at] sherrijackson.com (Plus, they might need a wedding photographer)

sorry for this:

aaawwwwww...

Seconded! Awwww! I bet that gave him the kick he needed to finish the race. Almost cheating getting an adrenaline rush like that!

Why didn't she just talk to the girl afterwards?

Aww, romance. I'm with handsomedevil though-- why didn't she just ask the girl?

They are so cute. NYTimes wedding announcements can kiss it.

Hope that it's not a sign of how their life will be.

"Will you marry me?"
"Yes!"
"Great! Gotta run now. Seeya later"

I ran the marathon yesterday with my new husband. Our shirts said "Just Married" on the back. Around mile 6, a man congratulated us and said, "I'm going to tell you a secret -- at the end of the race, I'm going to propose." But I can't tell if this is the guy! At any rate, our guy said he was going to propose at the END of the race, so perhaps there was more than one proposal taking place at the marathon yesterday. I've been wondering all day what happened to the guy we talked to!

I ran behind you two for a little while. I've ran 5 NYC marathons before, but i've never seen that. Very unique

I was standing next to a few people who told me their friend was going to propose to his girl after the race. They were both running it so I don't think it was these two in the picture.

They are not the only ones.

Always get them when the lactic acid in their muscles builds up, rendering them vulnerable to the Big Pitch.

At the starting line, I saw a guy wearing a t-shirt with "Will you marry me, Jenn?" on the back. Didn't get to see how it turned out, though.

Could you honestly say 'no' to someone at mile 16 of the NYC marathon? This guy = brilliant.

We'll see how brilliant he is after he gets married and has to endure a lifetime of constant nagging & visits from Aunt Flo

Kojak - you're a freakin' idiot!

Spoken like a true married man.

The way they're looking at each other is so beautiful and romantic. awwwww love!

I've always wanted to find a way to chill on the cheap, so thanks for including that link in your otherwise useless post.
