"There have been conversations at the community board, and I know the idea is being examined," said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., a Bombers fan who confesses to a "man crush" on the Captain."

You can't make this shit up.

Naming a bridge, or any public anything, after a sports star is incredibly stupid. C'mon folks, name it after someone who did something useful for the world and maybe didn't get paid a zillion dollars for it.

I am a humble individual and low paid at the same time because I refuse to work for anything less than I am worth. Therefore I want a bridge and tunnel named after me and my adoring wife shortly after I get married.

How about Joe DiMaggio Highway? How many know where that is? And Alex isn't even Italian.

Get out and vote Tuesday for Robert Wagner Sr. for mayor.

There seems to be some sort of curse upon living people who have buildings named after them.

Bernard Kerik Correctional Center (arrested)
Ted Stevens International Airport (arrested)
Ted Williams Tunnel (died, corpse subsequently abused)
Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service (exposed as tax cheat)
Trent Lott Airport (forced to resign as Senate Majority Leader after controversial comments)

So Jeter might want to tell them to back off.
