How many helicopter scenes are in this movie anyway? WCBS is reporting that there will be yet another two days of low-flying helicopters over Manhattan — both today and tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This time around the locations include midtown, Wall Street, and the George Washington, Manhattan and Verrazano bridges. See Matt Damon's stunt double dangling from a chopper over the East River? You know where to send your pics.

The thing I don't understand: why is it too dangerous to fly helicopters and planes over Manhattan, yet it's ok when they're filming movies?
You're right. You would think that with advances made in the special effects area, they could realistically make it work without endangering the populous and/ or the cast and crew.
Too dangerous? You're kidding right? Not when there's money to be made. Then all safety concerns goes out the window. Money talks in this city if you haven't noticed.
Apparently you haven't noticed, but none of the powers-that-be in this city give the slightest shit about the safety of their citizens. They'd sell us in a second if they thought they could make a nickel off it.
Realize the overwhelming majority of these helicopters are just camera copters shooting the city itself in fairly wide shots. It's not all ninjas and fireballs. The camera's are permanently installed on the nose of the copter and are just as safe as any news, police, or tour helicopter.
Let's see - the FAA gives special airspace clearance (ie, the space they are filming in is "roped off" to civil aircraft) and all pilots involved are paid, skilled professionals.
Easily comparable to the recent accident that involved a private license civilian hobbyist who wasn't properly following directions.
Pull your heads out of your incredibly tight assholes. Thx in advance.
Just use CGI? What happens if one of the helicopters has engine problems all of sudden?
A shorter work day for the movie crew.
And OT for the cops and firemen!
