Coming Soon For Bridezilla: A Disney Engagement Ring!

enchanted1009.jpg Move over Tiffany! After Disney swooped in with precious princess bridal dresses a few years ago, now the house that Mickey built is offering diamond engagement rings inspired by the "Disney princesses," like Cinderella, Snow White, Prince Jasmine, and Belle.

The rings go for $1,200 to $6,000 while the dresses, also based on the Disney princess, can run up to $4,000. For that price little animated woodland creatures with sewing skills should be included for last minute alterations!

Disney says their demographic ranges from 21 to 40, and The NY Post reports that even NYC women are shelling out the cash for the fairytale. A 28-year-old actress in Astoria told them she's buying the $4,000 Belle gown for her wedding next October, saying, "It's a very sophisticated, adult dress. You don't feel like a little kid playing dress-up, you feel like a beautiful bride. Then I found out it was a Belle dress, from 'Beauty and the Beast,' so I guess that fits. [My fiancée] is the bookish one, and that is my theme." Surely the husband is thrilled with being dubbed the beast on such an important day.

And they say that its GAYS who are threatening the institution of marriage...

You've obviously never worked at Disney.

"Surely the husband is thrilled with being dubbed the beast on such an important day."

As if the husband gets ANY say about the wedding day.

Oh, and since Disney bought Marvel, shouldn't they also be offering MJ's wedding dress (to all non-geeks, she married Spiderman)? Or better yet, appeal to their, mostly, male demographic and offer superhero tuxedos.

waste of money, for a dress girls only use once!! plus divorce rates are pretty high!! suckers

Thank God! Now that I know she'll be dressed properly all I have to do is work out the dowery with her father to take possession of this fine piece of proper ... I mean woman.

thus far 53% of NY Daily News readers voted "Yes, it would complete the fairy tale day" when asked if they would "get hitched with a Disney ring"

insightful.

Mark my words, the Japanese will love this.

4k for a dress? What a waste. Much of the talk about being a "princess" on your wedding kinda squicks me out. It's kind of regressive (as in indulging in some kindergarten aged fantasy).

I'm getting married next November and I don't want to be a princess, nor do i want to look like I'm wearing a giant meringue. I just wanna look hot (and not in white).

Thanks to your icon, all I can see in my head is John C. Reilly in a wedding dress. Thanks.

Most weddings are a colossal waste of money for the bride and groom. They are so busy running around that they hardly get to enjoy the day. You're much better off eloping and saving your money for a home.
And this idea that the a bride gets in her head that it's "her" day is completely silly and archaic. It's a wedding, not a your chance to pretend you're a runway model for a few hours.

I actually know a couple who went on a Disney cruise for their honeymoon.

Disney princesses never actually consummated their marriages.

Not true: those cels are all over the internet.

is it just me or does anyone else agree that people who base weddings on disney fairy tales need to grow up before they say "i do"?
