Bloomberg, Thompson Get Ready For Final Debate

2009_10_mayby.jpg
Mayor Bloomberg...holding an Angels rally monkey?!?!?
Tonight will be the second and final debate between mayoral candidates Mayor Michael Bloomberg and City Comptroller William Thompson. The first debate saw both men in attack mode, with no clear winner. CityRoom says Thompson, "Far behind in the polls, and running out of time...must deliver the political equivalent of an Oscar-performance Tuesday night." The debate will air on WABC 7 at 7 p.m.

Thompson had a few campaign events planned for today, while Bloomberg doesn't, ostensibly preparing for the debate. He had a late Sunday night, of course, since he was watching the Yankees win the ALCS over the Angels and was even spotted in the Yankees clubhouse after the win. Fox Sports said, "We had nothing to do with him being there."

Newsday's Neil Best wrote, "Sunday night's TV MVP, though, is Fox's Kenny Albert, who showed up in the winning clubhouse after having called the Vikings-Steelers game earlier in the day. Then he kept his focus on relevant interview subjects - i.e. people who play for the Yankees - while ignoring mayor Michael Bloomberg, who hovered for several minutes, seemingly hoping Albert would ask him something - anything! - before Election Day." Here's video, via Thompson's campaign:

Bloomberg's campaign is trying to encourage voter turnout. The Times reports, "About 4.2 million New York City residents are registered to vote on Tuesday. The Thompson campaign estimates that as few as one million may turn out. The Bloomberg camp predicts as many as 1.3 million. But some experts expect that the turnout will plummet to as low as 20 percent, or about 840,000. A low turnout benefits the candidate with the most-motivated voters and with the best field organization."

FUN FACT for those of you who still don't know:

Tax Hike Mike Bloombag was the NUMBER ONE FUNDER of Bush / Cheney's "reelection" in 2004 and to keep the war in Iraq going. (By sheer "coincidence", Mike totally hates Palestinians and muslims, and is a 100% supporter of Israel. Hmm.)

Mike also was the number one funder of national Republicans for congress, AND the number one funder of Republicans in Albany (who promised to end rent control etc).

STILL believe the outrageous lie that he's a "lifelong Democrat"?

  • cxb

    Is "imadick" being a smartass?

Even Bloombag himself admits he destroyed the city. (EX: 50% increase in overhead in just 8 years? That's the WORST MAYOR EVER right there!) (EX: 25% property tax hike in just 8 years? WORST MAYOR EVER.)

NOTE THAT THE "MESSAGE" MIKE NEEDS TO SPEND $100 MIL ON IS:

"The stakes are high." (and so am I)

    "The Choice is clear."

    "Progress not politics."

    ?????????

WHO still believes anything this naked emperor says?

There has never been an emptier suit!

  • cxb

You read it here, FIRST, people:

Christopher X. Brodeur----the number one enemy of Rudy Giuliani (according to everyone, and I easily am)----a man people mocked as "obsessed" with exposing Giuliani's record-shattering corruption----says with total sincerity that he would vote for Looney G over Emperor Bloombag!

(Hey, for 5 YEARS I reported that Kerik was corrupt while 100% of the rest of the media said he was an honest hero. Uh, I'm still WAITING for the apologies from the many morons who called me "crazy".) (They also called me "crazy" when I began writing about using jets to raze the Twin Towers in 1994!)

[author wishes he wasn't so noble. he could've easily gotten a job with Team Bloombag for $300K! You all probably DO deserve 4 to 8 years more of record tax hikes!]

  • cxb

Want more dirt on the most corrupt politician arguably in US history? (Guess how many other US pols oveturned term limits behind the taxpayers back? Zero!)

READ WHAT THE ENTIRE MEDIA KEPT SECRET:

    BloombergScandals.blogspot.com

WE will make international news when we crush the biggest goliath in election history on Nov 3rd.

Don't believe the hype: Conservatives and Liberals DESPISE Bloombag, and the only people hailing him are either paid staffers or complete airheads.

THE MEDIA WANTS YOU TO THINK MIKE'S WON, so, you who hate the Emperor, just stay at home and don't vote!

  • cxb

Any article about this which OMITS that Tax Hike Mike is a PROUD Red Sox fan is either awful reporting, or done by someone who's getting CASH in exchange for covering up for the Emperor.

[author notices all the "Vote Mike" ads all over Gothamist.]

    Hmm.

Just as how 100% of the media covered up tens of thousands of Bloombag scandals for 8 years. (EX: HOW do you write about Kerik going to jail during an election where ONE of the candidates begged Kerik to be Police Commissioner???? Mike said he's great at picking the best talent and 100% of media backed the little criminal up.)

    FIRE TAX HIKE MIKE!

  • Newt

Pretty sure he is strangling that monkey. Which is OK by me.

  • felixthecat2

    Bloomberg sure does enjoy killing.

  • JacqueMehoff

I commented on this to my sister, she thought nothing wrong with the mayor being there.

I asked, when was the last time you saw a mayor in the locker room celebrations? I don't know what bloomberg was trying to pull but I'm glad the interviewer didn't want any part of it.

yeah, I recall some politicians at sports celebrations but they're usually outside in the field, not in the locker room where eventually the athletes will undress.

"First jockey ever voted mayor, and that Trump hired him to be the little guy on top of his daughter's wedding cake"

Letterman has just been on a tear in regard to Bloomberg....

First jockey ever voted mayor, and that Trump hired him to be the little guy on top of his daughter's wedding cake.

but the real question is. will Bloomberg answer THE QUESTION, does he think that the city would fail without him. and if so does he have no faith on the council that did away with term limits then.

and why should we elect him again to fix the mess, if he couldn't do it in 8 years..

and what does he plan to do about the city's unemployment problem, and lack of new jobs...

  • imadick

what mess? the city is running smoother than ever.

  • felixthecat2

city is smoother. HELLO, The city has the highest unemployment rate in the nation, there has been over 1 million people who left the city because of all the rental tax hikes . Highest number of homelessness (pre-recession as well). Do some independent research. Bloomberg was silent about his friend Bernie Madoff yet vocal about Plaxico.

  • hotstepper

    who's the keebler elf?

  • HOTCUP

    hahahaha

thanks for the heads up, jen!

  • felixthecat2

    Right on Kenny!!!!!!!!
