Mom Accused Of Fatally Beating Son Claims Spirit Possessed Her

A Brooklyn mother charged with beating her 4-year-old son to death over the course of two days told a friend she was "possessed by a spirit" during the savage attacks. Suspect Myrna Chen Phang was visited Sunday at the NYPD's 71st Precinct station house by a friend, Rosa Adrien, who tells the Daily News, "[Phang] said something came over her, almost like a spirit. She said she didn't know why she let it happen." 4-year-old Jayden Lenescar died Friday afternoon after being beaten repeatedly with fists, a clothes hanger and belt buckle.

Phang, 25, and her boyfriend, Steven Dadaille, 26, were arraigned Sunday on murder charges of second-degree murder, manslaughter and assault. NYPD sources tell the tabloids each suspect blamed Jayden's death on the other. According to one source, Dadaille told police "the mother was too easy on the kid," and he had to be the disciplinarian. The beating began Wednesday night in their Crown Heights apartment; on Friday afternoon, Phang called 911 because Jayden was unconscious. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Phang's friend Adrien blames Dadaille, "a voodoo devotee," for the death. "[Phang] was falling apart, she feels so bad," Adrien told the News. "How do you do such terrible things to a 4-year-old boy, just keep beating and beating him?"

Look, I know this woman personally, And I know that she is not the type to do this. She has been with this man for a very short time, and he has been making her life and Jayden’s life a living hell for the last 2 months. He is the devil, and even though she tried to leave him she couldn’t.....I know Myrna, and she would never lay a hand on Jay, Steven said so himself....talking bout “she was too easy on him”? Regardless, she participated by not doing anything to protect her child. To me, that's worse. Nixzmary's mother got more time in prison than the step-father accused of the beating that caused her death. A new law was just signed increasing the penalty. They both deserve harsh punishment. There's no excuse for harming an innocent child or standing by and doing nothing. None.

However, they should put her in a cell by herself for 20 years or so, so that when this spirit decides to take over her body again, no one around her gets hurt.
