Mark Sanchez Sorry For Hot Dog Snack During Jets Blowout

2009_10_sanchezhotd.jpg Just because you're the 22-year-old quarterback of the New York Jets and your team is dominating the (terrible) Oakland Raiders, it doesn't mean you can eat a hot dog because you're HUNGRY! Mark Sanchez found out yesterday when he was caught sitting on the sidelines eating a hot dog during the fourth quarter. Critics said he was being disrespectful to the Raiders as well as his teammates who were out on the field playing. So Sanchez addressed the matter during the post-game press conference:

"I want to apologize for that. I wasn't feeling very good and didn't eat much before the game, so I was feeling a little queasy. Toward the end of the game, I probably should have eaten one of those bars or something, but someone offered (a hot dog), so I grabbed it and tried to be discreet about it, but obviously not discreet enough. So I shouldn't have done that, and it won't happen again."

And here's his (tacit) admission that he likes mustard on hot dogs—plus admitting it was stupid to eat during the game:

He shouldn't be sorry to us. He should be sorry to his own body.

In addition, why isn't Al Sharpton speaking out about this!

At least he used mustard.

Can a sport actually be retarded?

I agree with what I think is your implied sentiment--who cares about sports and what some guy is eating?

you pretty much said it for me. i was just being lazy >P

Point taken.

I also share your love of the lazy so I understand.

If this is what people are concerned about then just end it all.

This would have been news if it had been a banana.

It's funny that it makes a difference what he was eating. if he had sat on the bench and eaten a power bar or something, no one would have thought a thing about and if the announcers had said anything it would have been along the lines of "getting some nutrition on the bench." But eating a hot dog has the connotation of sitting around relaxing just watching a football game.

I didn't know there was a prohibition on eating while sitting on the sideline. Next thing you'll be telling me is there's a rule against taking performance enhancing drugs by athletes.

The food, I mean, not the PEDs.

Is this really a big deal? eating? EATING!!!

What about orange slices? What about energy bars? Are you kidding me, a hot dog? Good for him...!

ah for the glory days of the NFL when players showed up drunk...

Or the MLB when pitchers showed up tripping balls.

Any other ketchup-and-onion fans out there?

Uh oh, you're going to get flamed by the new yorkers that think the hot dog is somehow sacred and shouldn't be eaten with ketchup.

It's not like he ordered sushi. Big deal!

Now, that would have been awesome!

Or Dominos, and for the endorsement.

wouldn't have been an issue if it was campbell's chunky, since they are THE official nfl soup.

Not a big deal.
He's a rookie, he's gonna make mistakes too. He doesn't know all the rules yet.

Yeah he and the copilot really shouldn't have been sleeping during that flight- what? oh, oh I thought this was something actually inappropriate.

I actually find it pleasing that it managed to offend some dumbasses. Cuz you know, hot dogs totally aren't one of the most easily obtainable foods at a game! When I'm hungry, I don't always want those bars, sometimes I want something more filling - what, he doesn't get to eat what he wants? Ridiculous.

They are just jealous because he did not get enough for everyone.
Next time he should just get a headache and pass out.
I am sure he will be well fortified next time.
To the critics, here's some disrespect.
;-P Kiss this (_l_) . LOL

He should have apologized for dunking thru the goalpost after a 4-YARD TD drive.

Didn't Namath eat a slice of pizza and get blown under his fur coat in the game against the '72 Bengals?
