- Yankees 5 Angels 2: The Yankees are headed to their 40th World Series. Johnny Damon had the big hit, a two-run single that put New York up 2-1 in the fourth. A-Rod forced in a run with a walk and that gave the Yankees a 3-1 lead heading into the fifth. Andy Pettitte made that stand up, holding the Angels to one run over 6-1/3 and Joba Chamberlain closed out the seventh to keep the lead at two. Joe Girardi went for the kill, calling Mariano Rivera into the game to start the eighth, but Rivera allowed a run in that frame to put the Angels only one run behind.
But that’s where the Angels’ defense self-destructed, making two huge errors in the eighth and allowing the Yankees to score two insurance runs. Mo didn’t need any additional help and he set them down 1-2-3 in the ninth to earn another postseason save and send the Yankees back to the World Series.
CC Sabathia was named the ALCS MVP and he will get the ball on Wednesday in Game 1 of the World Series against the Phillies. The two clubs met earlier this year and Philadelphia took two-of-three in New York. - Jets 38 Oakland 0: Yes, the opponent was awful. But after last week’s debacle against the Bills it was good to see the Jets bounce back and bounce back in a big way. Mark Sanchez was good, but he didn’t have to throw much, completing 9-of-15 for 143 yards and 0 interceptions. Calvin Pace had an amazing game on defense, recording three sacks and forcing two fumbles. The only bad note was Leon Washington being carted off the field before halftime.
- Arizona 24 Giants 17: This one’s on Eli, who threw three interceptions and looked miserable against an exploitable defense. The Giants defense was mediocre, forcing a couple of fumbles and recording two sacks, but they made little impact after the first quarter. New York looks very vulnerable now at 5-2, after their 5-0 start.

Go Phils!
Go Yankees! Nothing like being home and watching the game in HD.
You are a legit loser, JReedNet...if that is your real name
PHUCK PHILLY!
Awesome, now the earth is close to spinning on its correct axis - 4 more wins!!!!
Funniest part of the post-game interviews; midget mayor mike from boston trying to jump on the bandwagon during a live broadcast, getting shutout!!!
Yankees in 6 - this will be a great series. How come Obama didn't win the MVP?
is that Spike Lee in the second photo?
Great job Trinkle! Oh wait....another lazy story from a subpar writer.
"The only bad note was Leon Washington being carted off the field before halftime."
How about, "He is out for 12 weeks after fracturing his fibula." Lazy, lazy, lazy sports writing. You'll do well at a dying newspaper.
Satan is obviously a baseball fan.
Don't worry, the Mets will be back.....eventually.....and you'll be able to use the 2nd avenue subway to transfer to the 7!
let's see how the yankees hold up against a team that won't self-destruct and hand them victories the way the twins and angels did.
Brad Lidge?
Phightens in 5.
the turnpike series.
High Hopes for the Phillies :)
I hope the Yankees get swept so I do not have to endure the onslaught of meathead Yankee fans sporting the latest Yankee Championship fashions... Nothing worse that seeing a guido, fresh from the barber, wearing his finest white sneakers, crisp jeans, and Yankees sweatshirt, jacket, and fitted hat–complete with labels intact tilted at a 45 degree angle...
And don't forget about the huge NY logo hanging on a gaudy chain from their necks and the completely oblivious to the real world look on their faces.
The Yankees appear to be unbeatable. I wonder what the series odds are?
Phillies are +170, Yankees -200.
I know we're supposed to go along w the hyping ny media when it comes to ny sports teams and I'm sure that this yanks team is the greatest since blah blah blah, but technically they do still have to actually play the defending champs. You remember them? Let's make one of em actually win four more games before we declare anyone unbeatable.
Phils in 5.
ARod gets an ass infection from sharing hypodermics, CC has a massive coronary after devouring 140 cheesesteaks in one sitting, and Cashman can't buy replacements fast enough for them to recover.
Amtrak Series! Let Joe Biden throw the first pitch!
