JFK Passenger's Thick Soled Shoes Reveal Cocaine

2009_10_snowshoes.jpg Add this to the list of the ways drugs are smuggled into the JFK Airport: WABC 7 reports that earlier this month, "A Worcester, MA resident apparently tried to stroll past U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers at JFK airport with nearly 7 pounds of cocaine in his shoes."

The CBP officers stopped the man who was arriving from the Dominican Republican for a "routine baggage inspection" and "The checked bags Mr. Ortega was in possession of six pairs of shoes with unusually thick soles. A more intrusive inspection of the shoes revealed a white powdery substance concealed within the soles that field tested positive for cocaine." All in all, the drugs had a street value of over $200,000.

The CBP's New York field office director Robert Perez said, "CBP employs some of the most dedicated professional law enforcement officers in the country. These highly skilled officers are committed to intercepting any threat or illicit activity before it adversely affects our nation's communities."

Hilarious, when I read the headline I thought he had the 7 lbs of coke in one pair of shoes that he was wearing, like a pair of Rocky Horror platforms.

I knew someone stepped the fuck all over my blow.

They thought at first he was a Frankenstein imitator. However the Monster doesn't smile.

Worcester...why am I not surprised?
