Waiters Get $3 Million from Sparks Steak House for Tip Gyp

102309sparks.jpg Sparks Steak House in midtown has settled a class-action lawsuit filed by waiters who accused owners of skimming money from the tip pool and using it to pay other workers, including bartenders, the pastry chef, the wine-cellar master and banquet manager. The waiters sought $5 million, but settled for $3.15 million, and more than 40 waiters should receive over $20,000 each from Sparks, the fifth-highest-grossing restaurant in the city. "What're you going to do," Sparks' owner Michael Cetta asks the Post.

The tip jar's been a little light ever since Paul Castellano took a dirtnap outside their door...

Actually, the Castellano murder is the reason that this restaurant remains popular and nationally recognized.

Not the first crooked restaurant owners to pull this shit. Unlikely to be the last.

The term "gyp" is offensive to Roma. Just sayin'.

I was thinking the same thing. Why didn't you just say they Jewed them? Sounds pretty crazy, right?

"What're you going to do." ????????

What you should have done is not steal from your hard working employees in the first place. Cetta is a thief.

Ahh, Whataya you gonna fuggindoo? Paulie, did yoo go see dat guy about dat ting.

I have always felt that the waiters in Sparks were put there by the mafia and that's who they work for. I also believe it was a Spark's waiter that shot Castellano.
