FINALLY: Run-DMC is going to Broadway, people! Joseph Simmons (Run) and Darryl McDaniels (DMC) are cooperating with the estate of Jason Mizell (Jam Master Jay) to create a stage musical about themselves: Run-DMC, the hip-hop pioneers from Hollis. Maybe it's not so crazy? Run-DMC were hilarious master showmen, and we could see their larger-than life personas served well by a big, loud Broadway spectacle. On the other hand, the producer is Hollywood's Paula Wagner, known for her association with Tom Cruise and War of the Worlds, which gives us a not-so-fresh feeling.
In addition to the original Run-DMC songs that would be featured in the show, Simmons and McDaniels might provide new material. Or a composer might "very possibly" provide additional songs. Wagner says she's a life-long Run-DMC fan, and she's enlisting the help of Broadway veterans to stage the show, telling the Times, "I have a number of good friends, and I think I will be turning to all my friends." All jazz hands on deck! To tide you over, here's the classic '80s video for "Mary, Mary."

normally i hate jukebox musicals but because it's rap, i think this should be on broadway. (and they better include rockbox)
And there better be huge Adidas sneakers on stage at some point.
the best part about these rap songs: they actually rhyme.
