Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty

wayne1009.jpg About a year ago rapper Lil Wayne was in Manhattan court claiming his tour bus was totally pot free after he performed at the Beacon Theater... a venue where surely the Allman Brothers have smoked a little grass on occasion. Anyway, the rapper allegedly tossed a Louis Vuitton bag with a gun inside when the NYPD approached the bus, which got him charged with "attempted weapon possession."

Now TMZ reports that Lil Wayne has pled guilty to that charge, and "New York is known for having extremely tough gun laws"—hello, Plaxico—"Wayne is expecting to get 1-year behind bars."

Meanwhile, 1010Wins really digs into the case, saying that authorities used "a debated, highly sensitive DNA profiling technique" in order to tie him to the gun.

Isn't throwing a gun into a bus the opposite of attempted weapon possession? He had possessed the gun, and was attempting to not possess it.

Attempted non-possession of a weapon is the real crime here.

  • Sommelier

But... you cannot attempt to put something out of your possession if it is not in your possession... ergo, self-important, talentless douchebag is guilty of possession.

  • JenChungsBaby

Lil Wayne and the Allman Brothers in the same sentence?

  • whitecastlerock

Who gives a fuck about this idiot? In about 15 years, VH1 will be doing a special on where is Lil Wayne now? If he has all of these millions, why the hell would you get tattoos that look like shit?

  • hotstepper

    rap sucks.

  • Sommelier

"tossed a Louis Vuitton bag with a gun inside"

Yeah... but WHICH Louis Vuitton bag? That's the story that the mindless followers of hip-hop fashion really want to know, isn't it? Sales of knockoffs on Canal Street are depending on knowing.

I hope he doesn't become someone Lil Bitch.

  • Lil' Wayne, first off, is nothing like Soulja Boy.

He's not even close to being the best rapper, but he's a helluva a lot better than Gucci Mane or OJ the Juiceman (I think that's his name). Lil' Wayne doesn't suck. Not completely anyway.

  • Wza

    Agreed.

Add his Young Money roster to the list, especially Nicki Minaj. A Weezy clone with no style of her own.

  • felixthecat2

He has a trial scheduled in Arizona for felony drug possession and weapon charges from an arrest in January 2008 at the U.S. Border Patrol.

There are few things sadder than Gothamist goons talking about hip-hop.

  • babyhitler

actually, there a lot of things sadder if you think about it. like mass genocide in rwanda. nice failing at hyperbole.

  • AJO524

Perhaps the sad thing is we talk about Lil Wayne as if he's actually some relevant human that we need to be thinking about at all in our lives; as if he's somehow important to anything that's happening beyond the pop culture machine.

  • T

    babyhitler. enough said.

  • austin5454

Although you are probably right that there are more than just a few things sadder than gothamist talking about rappers, you seem to think that you completely shot down his argument by listing one thing that is sadder. Nice failed refutation.

  • marcasm

Did he also plead guilty to not having any talent ?

  • babyhitler

this dude is the second worst rapper next to soulja boy. They need to put him, soulja boy, chingy, and lil jon in a cell together to let them annoy the shit out of each other with their gimmicky rap shit. I think Aaron Carter is a better rapper really. these guys are the reason why hip hop is dead
