  • Angels 5 Yankees 4 (11 innings): Joe Girardi made some strange moves in this game, but his last move, removing David Robertson and putting Alfredo Aceves in is what ultimately lost the Yankees the game as they fell to the Angels. Aceves came in with two outs in the 11th and gave up two-straight hits, the second the game-winner, as the Angels clawed back into this series.

New York had a 3-0 lead in the game thanks to solo home runs from Jeter, A-Rod and Damon. But, the Angels tied things up with a homer from Vlad Guerrero and took a 4-3 lead into the eighth. Jorge Posada tied it up with his own homer and the Yankees escaped a huge jam in the tenth. But, things fell apart in the 11th when Girardi inexplicably went to the bullpen after David Robertson had gotten the first two outs easily. Game 4 is tomorrow with C.C. Sabathia taking the ball on short rest.

  • San Jose 7 Rangers 3: Why did Torts decide tonight would be the night to start Stephen Valiquete? Good question and it cost the Rangers a chance Monday. New York had a 2-0 lead, but Valiquete was a sieve, allowing five goals on 18 shots to snap the Rangers’ seven-game streak.
