Man Survives PATH Train Track Fall

2009_10_pathtrain.jpg Over the weekend, a Manhattan man survived falling into the PATH train tracks—and having a train roll over him! According to the Star-Ledger, the man, 32, "appeared intoxicated" when he "fell off the platform" at the Pavonia station and "rolled into the center of the tracks at around 9 p.m."

Then a World Trade Center-bound train entered the station, and the Port Authority says the train traveled three-quarters over the space where he had fallen. The man managed to crawl out from under the train without injury. He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center as a precaution—and wasn't charged with any crimes.

Let's just hope he's not so daring as to sue PATH for some minor injury due to his own irresponsibility for being drunk and falling off the platform and blaming it on motorman's error, as seems to be fashionable with drunk customers of the MTA...

I hope so too but in all likelyhood, some lawyer out there will convince him to pursue a lawsuit. I remember some guy fell under the N train while intoxicated a few years ago and sued the MTA for a few million...and the jury actually awarded him the money.
