UPDATED: R.I.P. Bungalow 8 Not Closing

phpr7wiqEPM.jpg Chelsea's Bungalow 8, home to late night celebrity sightings, is shutting down operations. CityFile reports that the Amy Sacco-owned lounge has long been rumored to be closing, but now it's really happening. They shut down for "renovations" weeks ago, but allegedly have no plans to reopen... and their phone line has been disconnected.

Sacco, former "queen of nightlife," had been filming test episodes in the establishment for a Bravo reality show, which allegedly would "track her progress in opening a new club on 17th Street." Is this all a publicity stunt? Probably not, the site notes that the club had been troubled as of late, and was losing business; "The fact that it closed for renovations a couple of weeks ago and no one seemed to notice speaks volumes." The Beatrice, The Jane... why can't these A-listers keep their watering holes in business?

UPDATE: Amy Sacco told Eater, "I am redoing the entire space to give it a facelift, that's really all. I am not closing. After all, I am one of the last places left on the block ... everyone else has closed except Marquee and Cain, the 'good' neighbors. Pink Elephant is moving as well. People have said I have been closed for the last 5 years. It's a running joke."
