Should NYC Have A Dead Rat Dump?

R.I.P. dead rat in DUMBO, by Tien Mao
Back in 2003 Mayor Bloomberg declared: "Our administration has zero tolerance for rats. And I've got one message today, `City to rats: Drop Dead.'" But there are still rats running rampant, even in this city's pizza trucks... even at Peter Luger. So maybe the focus should be on dead rats — they're just easier to capture — especially if someone were to create a dead rat map.

With that, AnimalNY points to a story out of Virginia about a man and his rat dump. That's right, it was just ruled that "a pet shop owner accused of illegally dumping 200 dead rats on his property doesn’t have to clean up the carcasses" since they'll just decompose naturally.

So, where should NYC's dead rat dump be? Because the sidewalks aren't cutting it.

Rats to Bloomberg: We were here first, you beantown transplant.

Bloomberg didn't receive any humane education. He is so vile.

Put it in Red Hook. They haven't had anything to bitch about for nearly a month.

How about the north side of East 79th, halfway between Fifth and Madison? Right in front of Bloomberg's townhouse.

Judging by the cigarette butt next to the deceased rat, it appears to have died from smoking-related causes.

Don't be ridiculous. Everyone knows transfats and the high fructose corn syrup killed that rat.

That rat's not dead, it's pining for the fjords.
