Limelight Marketplace Readies to Open

limelight1009.jpg

The people behind the Limelight Marketplace have released renderings of their future mall. They tell us "the storied 163-year-old venue in Manhattan’s Flatiron district is being transformed into a three-story shopper’s paradise." When it opens, expect to see jewelry, organic groceries, candy, art, home decor, a salon and a sneaker shop. Do not expect to see club kids, trannies and cocaine-coated floorboards.

'jewelry, organic groceries, candy, art, home decor, a salon and a sneaker shop'

YAWWWNNN.

Behold: the neutering of Limelight.

I've been having trouble finding those types of businesses in New York.

Granted, it might be because I'm both blind and deaf.

This is still New York. I continue to expect to see club kids, trannies and cocaine-coated floorboards.

exactly - the article seems to imply that trannies and club kids don't like jewelry, organic groceries, candy, art, home decor, a salon or a sneaker shop; and the cocaine goes wherever they go

Problem is, once you throw the cocaine into the mix, eating becomes unbearable.

The floors were coated in Special-K, everyone knows that.

As predicted, the Limelight's gone to hell.

Not the open air market I remember.

The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Neutering the Limelight is more sacrilegious than the original desecration of that church to make the Limelight.

From a house of worship to a house of excess to an empty house to a house of consumerism- does this really help the neighborhood? Don't think so.

Any idea of where they are in the process of making this a real...zoning, approvals, etc?
