Community Rallies Against Garbage!

hudsonrise.jpg As you probably already know from the ranting of Lou Reed and Mad Men's John Slattery, the Sanitation Department is planning a big 'ol garbage facility on West Street between Canal and Spring Streets. The A-list locals are not happy, and have proposed an alternate plan, all whilst insisting this has nothing to do with them being rich and/or famous. Curbed reports that the bold-faced names will be gathering tomorrow night at a fancy rally; "Their aim is to gain support for Hudson Rise, an alternative proposal with a smaller and cheaper garage topped by a cute little patch of green." Stay tuned to find out if the garbage tower will be moving to your neighborhood...

If a sewage treatment plant can have a green rooftop, why not a sanitation garage?

By the way, that treatment plant does not have any A-List neighbors. It's Riverbank State Park in Hamilton Heights.

If you count The Beekman, garbage towers are already rising in manhattan.

Their alternate plan is to put it in the Jane Hotel.

Another reason not to vote for Bloomberg or Quinn.

I believe Bill Thompson will be there along with Kirsten Dunst and maybe me if I get out of work on time.

It's from 6 to 8 on Renwick Street. Refreshments will be served and discount tickets to use in local restaurants will be passed out.
