Good News / Bad News

The NYC economy added 130,000 jobs during the Bloomberg administration— but most of them are in low-paid, un-fun professions like "retail, food service, and home health care." Good luck paying off your student loans on $20K per year!

Many New Yorkers pay more than $20,000/year for rent. As one who is unemployed and looking for work, I find this very depressing news.

20k? Try moving out of Astoria, pal.

Yeah, those that don't know how to work a deal.

Hmm, I wonder how many New Yorkers with a high school education (at best) and mouths to feed would consider those "low-paid, un-fun professions" the only jobs available to them, as they struggle to pay their rent... I understand (and agree) that the idea that these jobs provide a living wage in NYC is laughable, but saying that ANY new jobs is "bad news" seems incredibly insensitive.

Yes, the Constitution says all jobs should be fun, it's part of the the Pursuit of Happiness thing. Let's get real here.

Any place within 100 miles of NYC wouldn't get you far from $20k a year.
