Bay Ridge Talks Trash About Brownstone Brooklyn

oscarthegrouch1009.jpg With recent recycling stats released by the Department of Sanitation, we now know which neighborhood gets a (100% biodegradable) gold star for cleaning up after themselves. The Daily News pits the top two, Bay Ridge and Park Slope, against each other — saying when it comes to recycling the former does it better.

One trash talker explains: "It's because we're fastidious; on recycling pickup days, you'll see our perfectly cleaned-out bottles and peanut butter jars on the street." Perhaps in part because of their attention to detail, they are #1 in recycling, whereas the slackers in Park Slope came in 2nd, recycling a full 4% less. One shocked resident of the Brownstone neighborhood says, "I'm surprised we didn't come out on top; we pride ourselves on environmental awareness." Step it up, Slope.

Is anyone accounting for the seventeen homeless folks who pick up our recycling before it ever hits the curb? Suck on that Bay Ridge.

Does styrofoam count? Park Slope wins!
