Hillary Clinton: Not Marginalized, Not Running For President Again

2009_10_hilclin2.jpg Finally, we get to hear what Secretary of State Hillary Clinton thinks of President Obama's Nobel Peace Prize win! Of course, Clinton treaded carefully in her Today Show interview, pointing out she can't predict the Nobel Committee's mind, but says that the President's "attitude toward America’s role in the world" was the reason, "His willingness to really kind of challenge everyone ... restores a kind of image and appreciation of our country."

Clinton also tackled claims that she's been marginalized—"I find it absurd. I find it beyond any realistic assessment of what I’m doing every day ... Maybe there is some misunderstanding which needs to be clarified."

“I believe in delegating power,” Clinton said. “I’m not one of these people who feels like I have to have my face in the front of the newspaper or on the TV every moment of the day. I would be irresponsible and negligent were I to say, ‘Oh, no. Everything must come to me.’ Now, maybe that is a woman’s thing. Maybe I'm totally secure and feel absolutely no need to go running around in order for people to see what I’m doing. It's just the way I am. My goal is to be a very positive force to implement the kind of changes that the president and I believe are in the best interest of our country.”
And when asked if she'll run for President again, HRC laughed, "No. This is a great job. It is a 24/7 job. And I’m looking forward to retirement at some point.”

    Obama, so eloquent!

The fierce urgency of his next speech!

  • His willingness to really kind of challenge everyone ... restores a kind of image and appreciation of our country

Funny, because W's challenging everyone (read: the international community) is what led to our current situation.

  • Sort of. Pres. Obama's challenge to to talk, Pres. GW Bush was apparently "Do what we say and THEN we'll talk".

    Big difference.

  • longacre

Some of Obama's speeches about international diplomacy have been good.

Others I'd consider worthy of a Miss Universe contestant, like his pie-in-the-sky pledge to eliminate the world's nuclear weapons.
