  • Devils 3 Florida 2: Tomas Vokun had a good game, but when you face 41 shots, letting in three of them is to be expected. Unfortunately for Vokun, the Devils clamped down on his team, allowing them only 21 shots, and Martin Brodeur stopped enough of those for the win. Travis Zajac and Brian Rolston both had 2 points to lead New Jersey.
  • Boston 4 Islanders 3 (Shootout): Close, but no cigar for the Isles in Boston. Facing one of the best teams in the league, they jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks in part to John Tavares’ second career goal. But, the Bruins stormed back with three goals in the third period and took the game in the shootout 2-1.

Both hockey and basketball have seasons that last way too long considering that the playoff structure adds a further two months. Hockey is even more plodding because it seems that the only way a team doesn't make the playoffs is if all the members were killed in a bus crash.
