Arrest In South Street Seaport Killing

2009_10_atlyacht.jpg In August, a man was killed in a South Street Seaport parking lot, apparently after a dispute that occurred on a party boat that had been docked at Pier 17. Now the NYPD says they have arrested a suspect.

According to 1010WINS, police "announced Thursday that the 21-year-old man was apprehended on Wednesday in Richmond, Va. in the killing of Omar Trent, 31, of Brooklyn." Trent was apparently a party promoter who helped organize the party on the Atlantica yacht and may have gotten into a fight with a partygoer that escalated from bottle throwing on the boat to a fight on land, ending with Trent being shot in the head.

The arrested suspect's name hasn't been released yet. Previously, the police released a photograph of a man suspected in the murder—a 31-year-old man.
