Method Man Arrested For Tax Evasion

Method Man, a member of Staten Island's hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan, was arrested yesterday for tax evasion. He turned himself to the 120th Precinct and when he was taken to his arraignment, he used a copy of "Ultimate X-Men" to cover his face. Really—video below.

According to the Staten Island Advance, "Officials allege Smith didn't file New York State Income Tax Returns from 2004 through 2007, failing to pay $32,799 in personal income tax during that time." Staten Island DA Daniel Donovan said, "Taxes are a burden that all citizens share in a civil society, whether you are an 'average Joe' on the street or a high-profile rap artist."

Previously, Method Man told reporters, "Because I got high, I forgot to pay. It was stupid," but his lawyer said, "I can assure you that he doesn't have a pot-smoking problem." Instead, the lawyer says people handling Method Man's finances were to blame—we guess we'll have to wait until a "Behind the Music" for the real explanation.

hahha thats a laugh, because mr. method man will make tons more more than that just sitting in prison.

and actually trying to prosecute and convict someone who can say ok it will cost you 180K? a year to house and feed me, where ill be a celebrity and rap and write rhymes all day, and come out with street cred and a million dollar comeback record deal.

of course this will go away with a fine and payback and charges dropped.
