Teenager Confesses to Shooting Innocent Bystander Frosh in Queens

2009_10_kevinmillergrad.jpg A sixteen-year-old Queens boy has confessed to firing the the shots that killed thirteen-year-old Kevin Miller just after the end of the school day at nearby Campus Magnet High School. Nnonso Ekwegbalu of Laurelton was arrested on Saturday night and admitted to being the one to pull a gun and fire the two shots that left Miller dead and injured a 17-year-old employee of the car wash where the fight that sparked the gunshots was taking place. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told reporters yesterday that there was an arrest and that Ekwegbalu has "made statements" in regards to the Cambria Heights shooting. Reports did not mention if they found the orange shirt that Ekwegbalu was allegedly wearing that initially led them to arrest and quickly release a Campus Magnet football player soon after the shooting.

Family and friends of Miller continue to mourn the loss of the boy who had just begun high school and was using his extra allowance money to get some McDonald's. His mother told the Times, “He was Mr. Popular. So many people knew him and loved him.” Black Law Enforcement Alliance and residents of Cambria Heights are planning to come together this afternoon to call for an end to violence in the neighborhood. Mayor Bloomberg said of the shooting, "I don't know what we have to do to get people to understand guns shouldn't be in the hands of children."

How does a 16 year old get his hands on a gun? Find out who gave, loaned or rented it to him and make sure that person does hard time. There are just too many guns in this country.

Surely this wouldn't have happened if Bloomberg pushed for stricter gun control laws. Oh wait.

I love this, How does stricter gun control and laws work?

Maybe you need to look up the definition of a Criminal.

Do you think they are going to follow LAWS?

Exactly my point. The only people that are hindered by gun control laws are law abiding people. Why bother enacting laws that criminals won't follow. The key is stiffer penalties. I'm pretty sure illegal possession of a firearm in NYC is a Class A misdemeanor with a minimum of 1 year in prison. For most of these guys, that just means 1 year to spend on their upper body regimen. Compare that to the Rockefeller laws that mandate 15 years for 4 grams of crack possession. Personally, I worry more about bullets than crack killing me. I bet spending a couple of decades behind bars for gun possession would deter some of these scumbags.

And that's how laws work.

A couple decades behind bars is like winning the lottery, a free PhD in Crime. Jail never deters criminals, criminals don't think about the future.

I'd rather pay for the incarceration of violent criminals than for that of self-destructive ones.
