Last Night's Action: Win, Win, Win, Loss

  • Giants 27 Kansas City 16: The Chiefs fumbled away the kickoff to New York and things didn’t get much better from there. New York built up a 27-3 lead and then took it easy in the fourth quarter with the game out of hand. Steve Smith continued his dominant season with 11 catches for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns.
  • Mets 4 Houston 0: The season of misery is over, now the hard work of fixing this mess begins. Nelson Figueroa had his third-straight strong start as he went the distance while striking out seven.
  • Yankees 10 Tampa Bay 2: A-Rod got to 30 homers and 100 RBI’s in style, homering twice and driving in seven runs in the sixth innings. Joba Chamberlain pitched a great inning in relief, which may get him on the ALDS roster. The Yankees won’t find out who they will face in the ALDS until Tuesday because the Twins and Tigers need to have a one-game playoff.
  • New Orleans 24 Jets 10: Yes, the Jets lost and yes, Mark Sanchez threw three picks, but asking them to win in New Orleans may have been a little too much a little too soon. The Saints jumped out to a 17-0 lead and clamped down in the fourth quarter when it mattered.

"asking them to win in New Orleans may have been a little too much a little too soon."

What does that even mean? The Jets shouldn't have to play any teams that are actually good?

fact is, even at 3-0 coming in, the Saints are essentially the same team that finished 8-8 last season. This isn't an elite team; just one of the teams that every year happens to run together a few early wins.

But they're also a team that, on week 4, has a good selection of Sanchez videotape, and so did what they could to pressure and rattle the rookie. The Jets defense was great once again, but our quarterback has a lot to learn. And his stats remain, after four games, right where they've been all season: solidly mediocre.

So who will be the first to get the axe for the Mets? Or do they wait until after the World Series to start clearing house?

I hope it's the Mets' doctors.

they need to fire all the MD's (or whatever random documents those guys in white coats have) They pretty much ruined the season this year.

"So who will be the first to get the axe for the Mets?"

It's already been done. Luis Alicea has been fired, so all is good for next season. Congratulations to the Mets organiztion for getting to the heart of the problem.

Seriously, here's a rundown on the staff changes:
