The Senate Finance Committee voting down those two amendments *is not* the same thing as the Senate rejecting a public option. The Finance Committee is much more conservative than the Senate as a whole, and there are still a few votes to be had once conservative Dem FC members can be convinced that there are enough votes to overcome a filibuster.
The public option is still alive and should be, it's supported by 65 percent of the American people.
