Cop Arrested for Fatal DWI

2009_09_nypddwi.jpg An off-duty cop has been arrested for an early morning DWI in Brooklyn where he fatally struck down a woman who had just left a wedding. Witnesses say Officer Andrew Kelly made no effort to slow down as his Jeep Grand Cherokee crashed into 33-year-old Veronica Valnore just after midnight in Marine Park. Valnore was trying to catch a cab after leaving a wedding at Floyd Bennett American Legion. She is said to have been pronounced dead soon after cops arrived at the scene.

Valnore's father is the pastor at the Church of God in Marine Park and she is said to have devoted much of her time to Bible study and the Haitian congregation's social programs. Kelly was taken into custody, but charges have not been announced. He works out of the 68th Precinct in Bay Ridge.

Yet another drunk driving idiot.

I wonder how many priors he would have had if he wasn't a cop?

or if he wasnt a cop and never gotten caught? hmm?

I wonder if he'll still collect his pension in jail, assuming he goes to jail. I am so sick and tired of drunk drivers killing and maiming people. They should be tried for murder.

That poor woman and her family! And I feel awful that this couple will probably remember this woman's murder every time they think about their wedding. Even though I know there's not a chance in hell that this cop is going to do the time he should for this, I hope they throw the book at him. I also hope he suffers for the rest of his life over the fact that his actions and poor judgment directly led to the death of another human being.
