Michael Moore's new documentary, Capitalism: A Love Story explores the root causes of the global economic meltdown, which culminated in what Moore sees as the biggest robbery in American history: the transfer of U.S. taxpayer money to bail out private financial institutions. We love Michael Moore, but just to be fair, let's hear what the Wall Street Journal's Joe Morgenstern has to say: "Once again he's on his own barricades, doing whatever it takes to drive home provocative points in a movie that manages shrewdly, even brilliantly, to capitalize on the populist anger that has been sweeping the nation.
"Beyond using comedy as a satiric response to folly and tragedy, Capitalism: A Love Story combines, sometimes tellingly and sometimes befuddlingly, what we know, what we think we know and what we fear about regulatory failures, revolving doors between corporate and public life, the excesses of the financial sector and the human consequences of a distressed economy. And it whips the frenzied events of last fall's meltdown into a montage that suggests nothing less than the Apocalypse. Mr. Moore aims to proselytize his friends and demonize his enemies. His movie hits both marks."Click on the film stills above for more on this week's new releases and repertory screenings, which also include Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, Fame, Pandorum, Blind Date, Surrogates, The Boys are Back, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, In Search of Beethoven, Irene in Time, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, and Passing Strange.

The free market will ensure that Moore stays wealthy and well-fed.
It's sad when crazy communists, lunatic libertarians, and rich republicans all agree that the bailouts were criminal... and our politicians ( Obama endorsed who for a second term? ) do nothing whatsoever about it.
I mean public opinion was MASSIVELY opposed to the bail out and still is... yet it went through? I mean... how the hell is no one in prison?
why doesn't moore offer the movie for free? oh that's right.... gots ta makez teh profitzzz!
