New Yorker Who Could Have Been Caliph Dies At 97

The last grandson of an Ottoman Emperor, a man who could have been Successor of the Successors of the Prophet, died yesterday in Istanbul. Ertugrul Osman lived for 64 years in a rent-controlled two-bedroom walkup in the East 70s, on Lexington Avenue, and according to his obit in the Times with as many as twelve dogs.

I know I'm running the risk of sounding heartless, but where is this apartment and how much was he paying?

If an article is going to mention that it is a "rent-controlled apartment" they are raising the question.

Read the post again. Gothamist says he lived in the apartment for 64 years.

I foresee this as my future... not the rent controlled part, but the living alone with many dogs part...
