Plaxico Burress cried yesterday as his three-year-old son Elijah and pregnant wife Tiffany watched him go off to jail. "I want to apologize to my family, my wife and my son," the superstar wide receiver said. "And my daughter," he added in a whisper. He was presumably referring to the unborn female child his wife is carrying, unless there are others we don't know about. "I thank everybody for their support, and my family for their prayers. We will all get through this."
The Post says his last words to his wife were, "I love you."
You'd cry too if you went from making eleven mil a year to doing hard time in a Catskill clinker. He could still make this whole thing a profitable venture, however. The Daily News reports that besides comforting his visibly distraught son Elijah he was followed around all day by an unidentified film crew, fueling speculation of a "Plaxico In Prison" reality show.
The felon, multimillionaire, and published author has been sentenced to two years in a state penitentiary, prompting some idiot to start the Free Plaxico campaign.

Don't forget to leave the glock polish out for your son!
Out in six for good behaviour.
According to one of Gothamist's earlier posts about this (see the "Free Plaxico" link above),
It looks like the "Free Plaxico" is just selling T-shirts and caps. There's no advocacy campaign as far as I can tell.
so it's funny because he feels bad for his family...?
What's with the beard ? Starting the prison conversion to Islam early ?
He's had that facial hair for a while.
You know, I don't feel bad for this guy at all. He endangered himself and the lives of other patrons at that club. And he had no good reason for doing what he did. In fact, in the long history of incredibly stupid things people have done, he's definitely nearing the top of the stack.
I agree with all the your points, but 2 years?? They truly are making an example of him.
And honestly, he did shoot himself. The judge shouldn't thrown out the case as punishment served for getting his own ass shot and loosing a Multi million dollar contract with the Giants.
I mean, an illegal gun in NYC is MANDATORY jail time. Usually it's 3 years. They actually did go very very light on him.
Personally I think the draconian anti-2nd amendment legislation in NYC set the stage for their complete abandonment of the 4th amendment. I mean once the figured out they didn't even need to know the constitution they just stopped giving a crap. Pay for a seat in senate... take seat in senate... do whatever you damned well please with some occasional political grand standing... and you get to live a nice life.
Ultimately this is just more of our state government continuing to expose itself as the complete and total failure that it is. On pretty much every level of its existence.
For the charges he was really brought up on, the minimum was three. He should be happy with the plea deal. If you or I did the same thing, we'd be sitting in the clink too. I'm supposed to feel bad for someone carried a loaded, unlicensed firearm into a public place?
On top of that, he's an idiot who doesn't even know how to handle it well enough NOT to shoot himself. There are THREE safeties on a glock, yet he managed to shoot himself.
Another tough guy cries. Wonderful. Why are so many NFL players in trouble with the law?
I see a pattern. And an ulgy one too.
2 years is too much. Bloomberg push for this sentence yet was silence when his friend Bernie Madoff was arrested and contributed to the collapse of wall street.
Exactly which part of "Mandatory Minimum" do people not understand? Bloomberg had nothing to do with the sentence. Also, I don't see the Madoff connection. Madoff essentially admitted guilt 30 seconds after the Feds knocked on his door, and within 24 hours, it was a foregone conclusion that he would spend the rest of his life behind bars. What was there for Bloomberg to push for, the electric chair??(not that I would disagree).
What a loser.
It's the government that has violated his rights
Hey, if his wife is pregnant now, that means he (at least, I assume it was he) impregnated her after he shot himself, i.e., when he knew he was going to be imprisoned in the near future for awhile. Great planning there, Plax.
He'll still be able to block punts.
