Track Foliage as Autumn Arrives

The foliage is coming! The foliage is coming! And soon everything will look like a happy little burnt-sienna-filled Bob Ross painting. Now that the dog days of summer are officially behind us, we'll get a short burst of brisk fall weather and trees bursting with color (even in the Bronx) before winter freezes us over. Kottke points to a foliage map so you don't miss the leaves turning; you can even become and ambassador and give reports from your location (right now we're still green).

If you wanna catch the foliage in a less urban setting, Circle Line is offering an Oktoberfest trip, which will head to Bear Mountain from October 3rd through November 1st. Where's your favorite place to see the trees change color? Outer space, perhaps?

Ever notice that Bob started making lots of leaves if he had time left over at the end of the program?

    Two hairs and some air

As for the Bronx comment, Ms. Carlson, you obviously don't know the Bronx, between the Zoo, NYBG, Pelham and Van Cortlandt Parks, Riverdale ... there's lots of nature in the Bronx! The Bronx gets so much crap, while the media jizzes all over itself about precious Brooklyn

    ...and use the fan brush.

you can also get a beautiful view of the changing colors if you drive through bear mountain, headed upstate. so pretty. makes me sad that most of the trees go from green to brown in manhattan...

Last year this only cost $45 dollars and now it's $120!! It was so much fun but there's no way I can afford to do it again. Major bummer.

The best place to see the trees is in Rhinebeck at the New York Sheep and Wool festival. Gorgeous trees, happy sheep and alpacas to pet, beautiful yarn, and amazing food. Hands down the happiest place in NY.
